Applying for teacher training using the GTP system?

I have applied for teacher training on the PGCE system, but also want to try the GTP route. I am finding this whole job, course application thing disheartening. I got rejected from my first choice for PGCE in PE, although I did apply too late in the year. For the GTP do you have to call all the institutions individually and ask if there are any places left? I am finding this quite hard.
