Why do people think it a beautiful thing giving birth? I find it gross, or is that just me?

I, at the age of 12 years, personally watched my baby brother's birth. He was born at home in a birthing tub. It wasn't nasty or gross. It was amazing, actually. It's very hard to explain, and in order to fully understand, you have to witness it. My friend Lauren was there too, and we both started crying. It was a very happy, emotional moment. Again, it's quite difficult to put into words.
