Turbo acceleration vs supercharged acceleration?

I owned a 05 Grand Prix GTP w/ comp g. It had a 3.8l OHV Supercharged V6 4spd auto, putting out 260hp and 280 lb-ft torque. When manually shifting the car via tap shift paddles I could never overtake another vehicle in 4th. I always had to downshift. I bought a 07 Saab 9-3 2.0T saloon. It has a 2.0l DOHC Turbocharged 4 5spd auto, putting out 210hp and 220 lb-ft torque, but if I want to overtake another vehicle in manual mode, I can do it in 4th or 5th and it accelerates faster than the Grand Prix did. Why is this?

I have a 1994 pontiac grand prix gtp. its an automatic front wheel drive and it pulls to the left hard during acceleration and gear change. I checked all the tires for proper air and size. It only pulls when i accelerate at from a start and through out driving. It doesn't pull during any other time like slowing, braking or driving strait. what could it be?

Is my i5 core temp right?

i have a hp 3046TX laptop. my config is 2.66Ghz i5 M430 processor, 4 GB ram, 1 GB ATI graphics card etc etc.. my problem is that i think my core temperatures are running too high. i had downloaded speedfan and also real temp and my idle core temps are 35 to 40*C . i had done a prime95 torture large FFT's test and at 100 % CPU usage my temp is showing 95 to 99*C on my ATI GPU and 85 to 95*C on my intel GPU. my vents are cleaned as hell and my fans are also working. im in a doubt that is it just me or is my CPU over heating? please let me know if anyone else is also getting this type of reading. and ya i run my laptop on the table and in a A/C environment. please help and clear my doubts. thanks

i have a horsepower question i think. something i have always wondered is how can a car with 170 hp(pontiac 2004 grand am ram air) have a speedometer that says 150 mph. when another car(2000 pontiac grand prix gt) have 200 hp when the speedometer reads 110. then the same pontiac grand prix but a gtp have 240 hp and have the same speedometer at 110 mph. is it just a way to sell it saying hey look it goes this fast or am i missing something? its always been confusing me and i have never figured it out.

Weird Car Heater Problems?

I have a '95 Grand Prix GTP with 3.4L DOHC and when I start my car in the morning to warm it up, it only gets a little warm. Also when i start driving it gets a little warmer(if the fans not turned all the way up) but still not as hot as it should be. If i turn the fan all the way up it will gradually get cooler so to even keep it somewhat warm the fan can only be put at about halfway. My temperature gauge stays right where it should be and I'm loosing no coolant at all! Recently had the coolant system flushed cause i had manifold gasket replaced. Hoping its only the thermostat but if it isn't any suggestions on where to go from there?

My car shut off while driving, What should I do?

I have a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.4 liter v-6 and it shut off on me while i was driving. Ok so here is exactly what happened. When i bought the car it did the same thing it did now shut off, so i took it to a garage and had it looked at. well the garage i took it to didnt do **** but put a battery in it. So the mechanic said we cud come pick it up everything was good to go. well we drove it about 100 miles and it started spazzin. the car jerked and all the service lights on my dash came on and my power steering, power brakes and gas pedal all stopped working, and then the car shut off bout 5 seconds later. Now i am pretty sure that its an alternator problem and it drained the battery due to a bad alternator becuz when i try to start it, it does nuthing. I am in desperate need of knowing what is wrong with my car becuz i dont want to take it to another garage not knowing what needs to be fixed. Why is my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP getting such bad gas mileage?

I just recently bought a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. For some reason I have been getting 12.6 mpg average in town, and 19-22 highway. I assumed the car would be getting between 16-24 in town. I have been putting premium 91 octane gas in it so far. I live in Minnesota so the weather now is below freezing from time to time so I let my car warm up for an average of 3 minutes in the morning before I leave. There is a check engine light on and a ABS light on also. I checked the codes and only one came up for the engine and there is a bad ground wire. What potentially could be wrong with my car? I don't believe that the weather could cause such bad gas mileage, but I really don't know too much about cars and mileage. Any input is greatly appreciated, thank you.

What would win in a 1/4 mile drag race? A stock 2002 Subaru WRX 5spd or a stock 1966 Chevy Corvette 327/350hp? Which would win in a race around a road track, such as Laguna Seca? Should i buy this car or save my money?

Please, is there any way I can save my cat?

He's such a strong boy! He's been through so much and we have to put him down in atleast a week. He has asthma, hiv, and heart disease. I took him into the emergency room and they said it's probably worse. They said he probably has a bacterial infection or something they can't pick up. They said it would be torture to keep him alive any longer because his lungs will get too constricted. I've been giving him medicine every day and he seemed worse before, but today he seems fine. It seems a bit hard for him to breathe but he's active, eating, playing, responding to my touches, drinking, gets excited.. Before he developed all of this the vets always said he's the healthiest 12 year old cat they'd ever seen. I don't understand why this is happening to him. My world feels like it will be nothing without him. I love him so much and I don't want him to go. He's my best friend and my child. My dad suggested getting another cat but i'll never want another animal again. I love him. Is there any procedure or medicine I can give? The doctors said I have the strongest medicine for an animal. i drive a grand prix 40th anniversary gtp it isnt supercharged for some reason but i am saving money to put after market parts in it right now i plan on getting a ZZP 1.0 pcm and K&N cold air intake system possibly a magnaflow exhaust but other than that i dont know what else to put in it i can get a supercharger kit for 800 but i dont think its worth it what are some other things i can do to add horsepower and make it sound and run better?

It depends on the year and stuff, too. For example, I have a 95 GTP. They weren't supercharged back then, but it still made 210hp and 210ftlbs. I pay about $500 every six months as I'm under 21. If you want to have lower insurance rates and have a supercharged one get a 97 or 98. 98 was the last year that "GTP" was a package for a GT and not a trim level. My 95 shows up on insurance as a "1995 Grand Prix 2dr SE" as GTP was just a package you get from the factory. Also, the grand am's would be cheaper. If you want your insurance even lower, don't be listed as the primary driver of the car. If your family has an old car (like an old Taurus or something) be the primary on that. Having above a 3.0 (you have to prove it) generally gets you a little break on it, too.

Most transmissions are all designed about the same. As far as the cars go, their all not bad choices. But the crown vic is rear wheel drive, the others are all front wheel drive, which will do better in the show. With any car you buy, its best to let a mechanic take a look at it, unfortunately 9 out of 10 times no one gets rid of a "good running" car. And if you find a car somewhere that sounds to good to be true, most times it is. Avoid used car lots, as you will pay top dollar for something, and if you have a problem, you spent all your money. Most transmissions have a life expectancy of somewhere between 80 to 115k miles. Just in their design, I see it all day long. So have someone look it over good before you buy. I always recommend a used car from a new car dealer. They have a reputation to protect, and will send junk to the auction block for the used car dealers to buy and sell, new car dealers make money off quality pre owned vehicles, hope that helps ya,.,.

Many accomplished actors and public speakers have the same problem. So this is my one comment. Do not under any cicumstances look at your classmates in the face. Look directly over their heads. Power window rolls down, but not up.?

I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and the driver side window will roll down with no problem, but if I roll it down past about halfway it will not roll back up. Instead it slowly inches it's way up if I drive for a long time and occasionally hold the roll up button (I have to be holding the button for it to go up). What is the problem?

i have a 98 grand prix gtp the wind shield wipers are messed up, there out of sync ones a little faster then the other, i was driving and it went to far off the window and got stuck on the mirror, i think it needs some sort of a adjustment i just dont know how any idea how? thanks

6 speed manual transmission for a 1997 grand prix gtp?

I want to get a 6 speed manual to get better gas mileage and still get the same performance when i want it. is there a transmission that could give me the same performance as my hd transmission i have in it? if so would it give me any better fuel mileage. or if i could put an automatic 6 speed in there it wouldn't matter to me just want better performance.

The hood lift shock on my car started smoking??? HELP!!!?

Ok let me start off first saying that I am VERY mechanical inclined and have alot of knowledge when it comes to cars. HOWEVER, the problem I encountered the other night has had me thrown for loops. The car is a 04 grand prix gtp, here is what happened. I was driving to the store at night (32 degree weather) and when I pulled up to the red light I started to smell a fire smell. I then started to think that my car was on fire so I immediately pulled over. When I went to raise the hood I heard electricity arcing when the hood was raised and the smell was really strong under the hood. Looked over all the wires and the engine and no problem was found. Well when I went to shut the hood, when the hood was going down I heard the arcing sound AGAIN and even saw smoke where it was coming from. Everytime I raised or lowered my hood, the lift shock ( holds hood up) was arc and smoke causing the smell I was smelling. I then thought maybe my car wasn't grounding and maybe electricity was causing the gas in the pump to malfunction and arc??? Well lucky I had tools in my car because I then disconnected my battery and took it off the car and then raised and lowered the hood again and the electricity sound continued and the more I did it, the more it was melting inside out. I was so frightened by this I was scared to even take it off the car because I was afraid it could explode and get killed by shrap metal. But I knew it had to come off and its only held on my metal clippers so I removed the pump and problem went away. I have drove the car alot since then and the smell has totally went away. The thing that confuses me the most is, why didn't it do this when the car was sitting in the driveway? Why did this problem occur when the car was in use? Is it possible the cold air could of made the pump malfunction or something? Sorry for the long post but any input would be appreciated.

I, at the age of 12 years, personally watched my baby brother's birth. He was born at home in a birthing tub. It wasn't nasty or gross. It was amazing, actually. It's very hard to explain, and in order to fully understand, you have to witness it. My friend Lauren was there too, and we both started crying. It was a very happy, emotional moment. 1997 Grand Prix GTP Tranny issues?

My Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Supercharged seems to be shifting hard/funny. Sometimes you have to lift off the throttle a little bit to get it to shift, it seems to jerk a lot at highway speeds and when going up a grade it tends to drop into a lower gear and makes a weird clicking sound sometimes accompanied by the jerking as well. Is the transmission screwed or is there hope?

Turbo acceleration vs supercharged acceleration?

I owned a 05 Grand Prix GTP w/ comp g. It had a 3.8l OHV Supercharged V6 4spd auto, putting out 260hp and 280 lb-ft torque. When manually shifting the car via tap shift paddles I could never overtake another vehicle in 4th. I always had to downshift. I bought a 07 Saab 9-3 2.0T saloon. It has a 2.0l DOHC Turbocharged 4 5spd auto, putting out 210hp and 220 lb-ft torque, but if I want to overtake another vehicle in manual mode, I can do it in 4th or 5th and it accelerates faster than the Grand Prix did. Why is this?
